In the National Assembly, Nepali Congress MP Bishnu Kumari Sapkota has demanded that non-resident Nepalis (NRNs) be given citizenship on the basis of descent.
In the Sunday meeting of the National Assembly, Congress MP Sapkota demanded that NRN should be given citizenship to their descendants as they are also Nepalese. She also said that NRNs have gone to work abroad and the visa system should be removed when they come to Nepal.
'The friends of NRN should also be given the citizenship of descendants . Because they are Nepalese. He went to work abroad. They should be given citizenship in the name of their descendants and I request them to remove the system of requiring a visa when they come to Nepal,' she said.
Stating that citizenship through mother's name brought by the government through an ordinance is welcome, she also said that it is necessary to make many laws to increase the economic status.
