National identity card is the basis of good governance: Communications Minister Gurung

Communications and Information Technology Minister Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the national identity card will be an important basis for maintaining good governance.

Receiving the national identity card from Chief District Officer Bharatmani Pandey at District Administration Office Kaski today, he said that it should be considered as 'Super Citizenship' as it is a modern and scientific technology.

Communications Minister Gurung, who is also the government's spokesperson, recently said that through an ordinance, the National Identity Card has been made mandatory for social security allowances. He said, 'A lot of irregularity has happened through citizenship, to stop it, we have made arrangements to consider the national identity card as the basis. It is also an important part for good governance.'

Minister Gurung says that the government considers the national identity card as the main basis for banking transactions, passports and even for shipping goods. "The national identity card is modern and reliable as it is high-tech. A lot of work is done through it. Since it runs on a biometric system, it cannot be stolen. We consider it as Aadhaar even when it is used in the citizen app,' said the Minister of Communications Gurung.

Chief District Officer Pandey said that 27716 national identity cards have been received in the district so far, and 75778 have been distributed to 750718 people through the ward office at the local level. He informed that the collection of applications for national identity cards is also being conducted in the administration office.
