India celebrated its 76th Republic Day on Sunday with a show of military might. In the ceremony held at the duty path in the capital city of New Delhi, military marches, missiles, tanks, fighter planes, motorcycles etc. were displayed.
In the parade, indigenous Arjuna battle tanks, Tejas fighter jets and advanced light helicopters performed in water, land and air.
President Draupadi Murmu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh and other politicians, senior officials and foreign diplomats were present at the ceremony where Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto was the chief guest.
Indian Embassy in Kathmandu has also organized various programs on the occasion of Republic Day. Indian Ambassador to Nepal Naveen Srivastava hoisted the national flag of India at the event held at the embassy. In the program, the address delivered by the President of India Murmu in the name of the nation was broadcast live. At the
event, Ambassador Srivastava awarded five crore rupees to the wives and dependents of the deceased soldiers of the Indian Armed Forces. 232.9 million was distributed to the wives and dependents of 219 deceased members of the Indian Armed Forces.
These include death service benefits, extended insurance benefits and AGI maturity payments under the Army Group Insurance (AGI) program in 2024. In the event, Srivastava also unveiled the 'Bhupu-2025' magazine, which includes the welfare initiatives of the Indian government for ex-servicemen living in Nepal.
The embassy has provided books worth 2.3 lakh 5 thousand to 29 educational institutions in 6 provinces of Nepal. Certificates were awarded to top 50 rankers from Nepal in the 'Bharat Ko Janiye' (BKJ) Quiz held from November 11 to December 11, 2024. Students of Swami Vivekananda Cultural Center and Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kathmandu presented a cultural program under the Embassy.
