In the last 7 months, the police have taken action against 1,52 people who run offline services like send-in-drive in the capital alone. Now there is an arrangement that such drivers can be prosecuted by the on-duty police for trying to provide services by staying offline.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police Poornima Kumari Chand, Information Officer of District Police Complex Kathmandu, 188 people tried to serve offline in July, 154 in August, 126 in October, 95 in Kartik, 135 in November, 261 in January. And 93 people have been prosecuted in January . 

There is also a complaint that on days when public transport is running less, on rainy days, ride sharing companies charge more money than other times and play on the compulsion of customers . Many have had the experience of charging more than what they charge and quote. Ravin Dahal, who lives in Kathmandu, said that it would be difficult to get a ride service online in the evening. "Even if they get it, they only provide offline services," he said, "by doing this, you have to pay a lot of money." There is no security.'

The use of ride-sharing apps is now increasing in the major cities of the country, including Kathmandu Valley. In 2016, Total was launched as a ride share for the first time in Nepal. Now in urban areas, ride-hailing like Pathao-indrive is taken by passengers as a convenient means of travel.

Incident 1: Ganesh Lama, who forcibly stole a mobile phone and half a tola gold ring from a passenger who had booked a ride on a lonely road near Panchkanya Vidyalaya, was sentenced to 24 days imprisonment and a fine of 5,000 by the Kathmandu District Court on 22nd of January. He was arrested by the police and prosecuted for the crime of theft.

incident 2 :  On November 19th, a complaint has been filed in the police saying that Prakash, who called himself a ride driver, abused him. But the police have not been able to find more details about him yet.

Incident 3: After a petition was filed on November 21 in Baneshwar circle saying that the Pathao driver had misbehaved, the police reached an agreement on December 2 after discussing with both parties. On the 19th of November, a petition was received stating that the driver Pradeep Limbu insulted the woman and both were called to the office and a settlement was reached after discussion.

This business has provided the facility of reaching the destination safely at the same time and from the same place as well as the facility for the rider to work as he likes or at his leisure. But with the increase in the number of drive-ins, crime incidents are also increasing. Similar to this incident, the police have arrested 25-year-old Pravin Baral from Chitwan for sexual harassment through the mobile number of a female traveler obtained during the drive-in journey.
