There are 97 Nepalis wanted by the International Police Organization (Interpol), of which 72 have been issued a red notice and 25 have been issued a diffusion notice. According to the Nepal Police, 5 foreigners have been searched in Nepal by issuing raid notices and diffusion notices to 11 people.
According to the police, 66 people have been brought to Nepal through Interpol in the last 10 years. At most 25 people from UAE have been brought to Nepal with the help of Interpol. Likewise, 10 from Qatar, 5 from Kuwait, 3 each from Saudi Arabia and Malaysia and 2 each from India, Macau, China and Cambodia have been brought to Nepal. 1 person each was brought from America, Portugal, Bahrain, Romania, UK .
Red notice was issued to 53 out of 66 people brought to Nepal since 2015. Diffusion notices were issued to 13 people. Most of them were arrested in 15 murder charges, 9 in rape, 8 in gold smuggling, 7 in fraud, 6 in human trafficking, 5 each in kidnapping, cyber crime and foreign employment fraud, 2 each in wildlife crime, corporate and banking fraud .
According to the police, 7 foreigners have been arrested and sent to the respective countries during that period. 4 people from China, 1 each from Sweden, Korea and India who were issued red notices have been searched in Nepal and sent back. Diffusion notice is issued to find out the hiding place of the accused in the case pending in the court, and if the place is found, red notice is issued for arrest . And, searches are conducted in member countries through Interpol. There are 196 member countries including Nepal in Interpol.
Nepal has the highest number of Indian nationals in the list of criminals wanted by Interpol. Out of the 6 Indians who are being searched by Interpol, 4 Indians have been issued red notices and 2 Indians have been searched by diffusion notices. One person involved in drug trafficking is on red notice, two persons involved in serious crimes such as kidnapping and murder have been wanted by Interpol for 8 years under diffusion notice.
Apart from this, the police say that one of the sex crimes and two of the murders have been put on red notice and are being searched for. A Korean involved in the illegal trade of protected wildlife is also on red notice. The criminal who is being searched by Interpol for the longest time is a Pakistani citizen.
He is accused of being involved in fake note business . And, since 2011, he is being searched by issuing a diffusion notice . Likewise, two Romanian citizens are being searched for by issuing diffusion notices in banking fraud. 6 Chinese nationals involved in gold smuggling are also on the wanted list of Interpol.
