The opposition parties have said that the current government is trying to impose autocratic rule. In a joint press statement issued after the meeting at Parliament House on Friday, 7 parties including the main opposition party Maoist issued a joint press statement and said that the government has proceeded arbitrarily.

In a joint statement issued by CPN (Maoist Centre), RSWP, RPPA, CPN S, NESP, AAZ and Rajmo, it is said that autocracy, arbitrariness and dictatorship will not be accepted under any pretext.  In the

statement, it is said, 'Our constitution has adopted multi-party competition as an important element of democracy and has established the fact that public opinion is paramount in democracy. The constitution does not envisage imposing a two-party dictatorship under the name of 'threshold' or any other name.'

7 parties also say that they are trying to split the opposition party in order to maintain the current government. The situation is emerging that the historical achievements of the Nepali people will be taken away due to the repeated efforts to bring ordinances related to political parties to maintain power in an arbitrary and dictatorial manner and to split the opposition parties. The beauty of democracy is respect for different opinions and diversity. We oppose the above-mentioned steps of the government to create despotism, arbitrariness and dictatorship under this or that pretext,' said the joint press statement.
