Chitwan Police's investigation against Ravi and Chibhi completed, report to public prosecutor's office

After completing the investigation against 14 persons including Ravi Lamichhane, Chabilal Joshi, Chitwan Police has submitted a report to the office of the District Attorney (Government Attorney) on Friday in the case of misappropriation of the savings of Sahara Chitwan Multi-Purpose Cooperative. A case has already been filed against 17 people in this case.

According to the instructions of the public prosecutor's office to investigate further, the police conducted a supplementary investigation. District Attorney Shanti Prasad Luintel said that a supplementary report has been received from the police office and the study is pending. The report has been received from the police, it is yet to be studied. After studying, it may take a day or two to take the case to the court, said District Attorney Luintel. 

Chitwan Police spokesperson Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Gyan Kumar Mahato said that they have sent an opinion to make 14 more people defendants. In the supplementary report, there is an opinion that 14 people including Ravi Lamichhane, Chabilal Joshi, Ram Bahadur Khanal should be made defendants. In the same way, it is seen that the case should be prosecuted against the seven companies that lost the funds of the cooperative. The public prosecutor's office will study it and take the case to the court with the corresponding demand, said DSP Mahato. 

It was reported to the Chitwan Police on 9 October 2080 that the savings of Sahara Chitwan Multi-Purpose Cooperative was embezzled. A case was filed against 17 people in the Chitwan District Court on the 8th of October, based on the investigation conducted by the Chitwan Police for almost a year. Also, when the case was filed, the district attorney's office also instructed the police to conduct further investigation of the Gorkha media where it was found that the co-operative's funds had gone missing. The police have just completed the investigation on this matter.

On November 5, 24 savers of Sahara Chitwan filed a supplementary complaint against 10 more, including Lamichhane, asking for an investigation into fraud and organized crime. Lamichhane has been filed a complaint by the savers as the then shareholder/director and managing director of Gorkha Media. The complainants mentioned that Rs 100.80 million went from Sahara Cooperative against the rules in Gorkha media.
