Water Minister Pradeep Yadav has claimed that 98 percent of citizens have access to basic drinking water. Minister Yadav made this claim while speaking at a workshop on 'Earthquake and Disaster Risk Management' organized in Lalitpur on the occasion of National Earthquake Safety Day on Thursday.

Minister Yadav has also announced that basic drinking water will be provided to 100 percent of citizens within one year. Stating that only 27 percent of the citizens have access to clean drinking water, he also said that within one year, 57 percent of the citizens will have access to clean drinking water. He said that the government is sensitive to meeting the basic needs of the people.

'We are working in the field of drinking water . Who did what yesterday is a different part . But now that is our job . All that work will proceed effectively . Since Nepal is a country that is at risk of disaster, I am thinking that it should be designed accordingly. Accordingly, our work is also progressing," Minister Yadav said, "Now we have to face a big challenge in the field of drinking water. Now we have provided basic drinking water service to 98 percent of citizens in our country. Even now, we have not been able to provide basic drinking water to two percent of the people. We are constantly working for that . I believe that within one year we will provide basic drinking water to 100 percent of people. This is also my commitment. Another thing is that we are giving clean drinking water to 27 percent of citizens. It's not enough . There is a danger that the people will get sick and the disaster will spread. That is why we are striving to reach 57 percent. I have moved forward with this promise.'

Minister Yadav said that he is working continuously to solve the problem of drinking water in Kathmandu Valley.
