Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has appealed to Qatar for the release of Bipin Joshi, who is under the control of Hamas. Foreign Minister Rana had a phone conversation with Qatar's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Mohammad bin Abdul Aziz Al-Khulaifi on Tuesday morning. Minister Khulaifi is also the main negotiator and mediator for the peace talks with Hamas on behalf of the Qatari government.

In a conversation with Khulaifi, Rana requested that special efforts be made for Bipin's release as there was news that Hamas was going to release some of the prisoners under its control. Khulaifi informed that the issue of bringing Hamas to a cease-fire with Israel is progressing positively and said that the Qatari government is taking initiatives for the release of those abducted by Hamas.

Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Khulaifi said that he is confident that Bipin will be freed from abduction in the first phase and if that is not possible during the release of the rest, as they have informed that they will release some prisoners in the first phase.

Earlier Foreign Minister Rana requested the Egyptian government to help in the release of Bipin. The Egyptian government is also in contact with Hamas and is taking initiatives for a ceasefire. Last week, she requested Nepal through the ambassadors of Egypt and Qatar to take special initiatives for Bipin's release. Earlier, she requested the same to the Israeli government through Samulik Ari Bash, the Israeli ambassador to Nepal, last week.

Ambassador Bash told Minister Rana that the Israeli government had received the news that the Hamas group was about to release 34 people, including the elderly, women, children and people with critical health conditions. In October 2023, the Palestinian Hamas group killed more than 1000 people, including 10 Nepalis, during an attack on Israeli land. After that they kidnapped some people including Bipin Joshi.

Nepal government is continuing its diplomatic efforts for the release of Bipin. At the United Nations, various international and regional forums as well as bilateral and multilateral meetings, Foreign Minister Rana has been urging the international community to take initiatives for the release of Vipin.
