The eighteenth edition of the joint military exercise 'Suriya Kiran' involving the Nepali Army and the Indian Army has been completed today. The military exercise, which started on the 16th of January, was completed today at the Nepali Army Battle School in Saljhandi, Rupandehi.
Concluding the exercise in the middle of a special program, the force chief Rathi Pradeepjang KC thanked all the related agencies for helping to successfully complete the joint exercise. He said that the professional efficiency, high level of dedication and collective commitment displayed by the forces of both countries during the exercise is commendable.
Assistant Director of Joint Exercises Rathi Suraj Gurung gave a brief briefing on the exercise and Brigadier General Govindan Praveen spoke on behalf of the Exercise Observers Group of the Indian Army. According to the Nepali Army, the exercise was conducted with topics including disaster management, counter-insurgency, counter-terrorism, jungle warfare and humanitarian assistance. Six hundred and sixty-eight soldiers from both countries participated in the exercise under the leadership of Major General Nirajan Katwal from the Nepali Army and Colonel Japender Pal Singh from the Indian Army. In the
closing event, Prem Bahadur Pun, Rathibrind, officer, Indian military attaché for Nepal and others were present in the Central West Pritnapati. The Nepali Army believes that this exercise, which has been conducted alternately between Nepal and India since 2067, will strengthen the friendly mutual relations between the two countries, as well as the development of professional skills and mutual understanding at the overall level.
