Prithvi Jayanti is being celebrated today

The birth anniversary of Prithvi Narayan Shah, the creator of modern Nepal, is being celebrated across the country today by organizing various programs. Prithvi Narayan's 303rd birth anniversary is being celebrated this year.

Prithvi Narayan Shah was born on 27th December 1779 in Gorkha to King Narbhupal Shah and Queen Kaushalivati. Prithvi Narayan became king on 25th Chait 1799. Before that, Nepal was divided into 52 states. After Prithvi Narayan became king, he succeeded in expanding Nepal's borders from Teesta in the east to Chepe river in the west.

After the death of Prithvi Narayan, his successors expanded the kingdom of Nepal in the west up to the fort Kangra. Prithvi Narayan Shah conquered Nuwakot in 1801. 25 years later, in 1826, Kathmandu Valley was conquered. After conquering the Nepal Valley, Prithvi Narayan Shah expanded the borders of the country by conquering Chaudandi Vijaypur etc. in the east.

303rd birth anniversary is being celebrated today with various programs across the country in memory of Prithvi Narayan Shah who made Shriganesh for the unification of Nepal with the support of all castes and languages. On this occasion, it is said that a special program will be held in Shah's Salik complex, which is in front of the west main door of Singha Darbar. Regarding the

day, Rashtriya Prajatantra Party has organized a tea ceremony and special programs are also being held in districts including Gorkha.
