Nepali Congress senior leader Shekhar Koirala has said that the politics of Nepal is very fluid now. Addressing the interaction organized by the Nepali Embassy in London on Friday, leader Koirala said that Nepal is going through a very fluid situation.
'I don't want to say more than that,' he said. Leader Koirala also said that the investment from Britain to Nepal is decreasing and there is a problem of double taxation. He said that the current government is working to attract investment by saying that 'red tapeism' is increasing in Nepal. He said that although the British government has given facilities for various goods to be imported from Nepal, Nepal has not been able to benefit from it.
Koirala said that he had heard that non-resident Nepali citizenship was criticized for being a 'paper waste'. He said that there is a need for improvement in this and said that this problem has arisen due to the lack of good governance in Nepal. He also said that he would raise the issue of equal pension for ex-Gurkha soldiers with the British ministers. Addressing the
program, Acting Nepali Ambassador to the UK Bipin Duwadi said that the Nepali diaspora in the UK is strong, educated and worthy of pride. He said that he found that the Nepalis living here are willing to contribute to any issue of Nepal. Duwadi said that all Nepalis living in Britain are honorary ambassadors of Nepal and urged them to use their knowledge, skills and access for the benefit of the state.
Leader Koirala arrived in Britain on Thursday night on a week-long visit. Koirala was also felicitated by civil society UK in London on Friday. He will address events organized by the Public Relations Committee UK and the Society of Naples Professionals UK on Sunday.
Similarly, Koirala will participate in the meeting to be held in a chamber of the British Parliament on Monday (January 13) evening. Leaders of the Nepalese community in the UK have also been invited to the meeting organized by UK's Assistant Minister for Industry and Trade Gareth Thomas and Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs Catherine West.
