Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa has said that the leaders of the political parties are indifferent to federalism. He said that after going to the place where the government is run, the leaders are not in favor of federalism and only want to keep the power in their hands.
In an interaction program on 'Questions of the State in the Way of Strengthening Federalism', Thapa said that the current situation has arisen because the leaders of the political parties who take on the government responsibilities cannot be generous towards federalism. He said that he is not able to work but because of the structure of the state, the country has not been formed.
'We are political party leaders, I am also in it . Those who take this governmental responsibility, none of us are generous towards federalism. We are very liberal, we are not interested in it . We are not going to continue it from here . I also looked at the new party, I also looked at the regional parties, we sat together in the government,' Thapa said, 'No one sets conditions when running the government inside, no matter what they say outside, on the federal civil service bill, the federal police bill . Until today, I have not heard anyone say that if the Civil Code and the Police Bill are not passed, I will leave the government.
Thapa said that parties and leaders who are in favor of federalism for public consumption are not working according to that commitment after coming to the government. "Everybody says outside, after going to the place where the government is run, it's all about how we can keep the power in our hands, we all get along," he said.
Thapa said that all political parties should move forward with the commitment that federalism will continue in Nepal and that it will remain a province. General Minister Thapa also expressed his dissatisfaction saying that the burden of federalism is going to be borne by the provincial level.
