9 workers were trapped due to water entering a coal mine in Assam. 1 person and two Nepali workers are among the detainees. The workers were trapped when water suddenly entered the mine in Dima Hasao district and blocked the mouth of the mine.
According to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sharma, Ganga Bahadur Shrestha is one of the Nepali people imprisoned in the mines. It is not clear where he is in Nepal. Similarly West Bengal Sanjit Sarkar is also imprisoned in the mine. Hussain Ali, Zakir Hussain, Sarp Burman, Mustafa Sheikh, Khushi Mohan Rai and Sharat Goyari are also imprisoned in the mine along with Nepali speaking Legion Magar of Assam.
It is said that the bodies of three people who were imprisoned in the mine were found. However, the authorities are yet to confirm it. An expert team of the army that can dive in deep water has been called from Visakhapatnam and mobilized. It is said that the water level inside the mine has reached about 100 feet.
