Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Akhtar has said that he will find a solution to the problem of Indian citizens living in Nepali land in Kanchanpur's Shuklafanta through diplomatic means.

He also said that the government is determined to protect Nepalese land and borders. In Monday's meeting of the State Order and Good Governance Committee under the House of Representatives, the minister said that the state apparatus and security agencies are aware that Indian citizens are farming in Nepalese land.

'Government has drawn serious attention to the issue of Nepali land being enjoyed by Indian citizens in Kanchanpur district. What I want to inform the committee is that our land, our land in Shuklaphanta National Park in Kanchanpur district is being occupied by Indian citizens. The government is aware of this. We have received the information . Information has been received from the Chief District Officers, National Parks, Police, Armed Police, Nepali Army etc. in their respective districts of the government,'' the Home Minister said, 'The government has taken serious notice of this . We have also had some discussions on this matter.'

The Home Minister also said that the government will find a solution through diplomatic means to the issue of Indian citizens occupying Nepalese land even where there is no border dispute. "The government is determined to protect its land and borders, in this way we will solve the issue of the citizens of friendly nation India through diplomatic initiatives," said the writer.

Congress MP Dilendra Prasad Badu and UML MP Raghuji Pant raised questions about Nepali land being used by Indian citizens in Kanchanpur.
