The Solukhumbu administration has warned to immediately remove the ban imposed by unauthorized persons on helicopter landing at the helipad in Khumbu area. The district administration office has also warned that those who do illegal activities will be severely punished.

Due to excessive noise pollution caused by helicopter flights, commercial helicopter flights have been banned from 17th of January due to the impact on the settlements and wildlife habitats in the central area of ​​Everest National Park. 

The Khumbu Pasang Lhamu, a world heritage-listed Mt. The rural municipality decided on two points from the executive meeting on November 22 and the Everest National Park and Intermediate Area Management Committee, concerned organizations decided on two points on November 25 to ban commercial helicopter flights including tourist traffic from January 17 (January 1, 2025). 

However, the Nepal Civil Aviation Authority objected to the decision of the rural municipality and the park as being against the constitution, saying that it interfered with the sole authority of the federal government. Businessmen and Airline Operators Association who have been flying helicopters in that area also stated that they will continue commercial flights in the Khumbu area citing laws including the Civil Aviation Act. 

However, since December 17, businessmen have suspended any charter and commercial flights including patient rescue in the Khumbu area since Sunday, after declaring that they will take action against the pilots who fly helicopters by hanging flags with khabo on most of the helipads in the slums from Lukla to Everest region. After that, the local administration issued a public notice and warned not to obstruct the helicopter flight.
