Nepali Congress General Minister Gagan Kumar Thapa has said that blood should be provided free of cost to those who need it.
In the massive blood donation program organized by the Nepal Red Cross Society Narayangadh sub-branch here today, he opined that since those who give blood also give for free, those who receive it should also receive it for free.
General Minister Thapa said, 'Blood should be free. Now the patient is paying blood money, the state should exempt it.'
Thapa, who is also the former health minister, expressed his commitment to take the initiative to focus the attention of the health ministry on this issue. He said that since the biggest donation is blood donation, we should work motivated by the feeling of well-being. General Minister Thapa said that blood donation is an important and charitable work among the social work and said that even if there is no relationship between the giver and the receiver in the past, a relationship will be established in the form of cooperation.
He said, 'Blood donation is an act of piety as the blood donor does not know who will use it and the recipient does not know whose blood he took.'
