Prime Minister KP Oli Sharma has expressed his commitment to make the 'Child Marriage Free Nepal National Campaign' a success.
Prime Minister Oli made this commitment in a meeting with child campaigners led by the National Child Welfare Council (NCRC) at the Baluwatar Prime Minister's residence on Tuesday.
Since child marriage is a social problem and a legal crime, Prime Minister Oli also signed a resolution to make Nepal child marriage free by conducting a campaign against it. Child marriage is considered punishable in the Criminal Code, 2074. In the
meeting, former Minister for Women, Children and Senior Citizens Bhagwati Chaudhary, former Chief Minister of Lumbini Province Dilli Bahadur Chaudhary, founder of India's 'Just Rights for Children' Bhuvan Ribhu and those involved in the campaign against child marriage were present.
