In Israel, the first phase of the health test begins to take 1,000 caregivers

The Department of Foreign Employment has advanced the process of sending 1,000 Nepali workers as caregivers to long-term care centers in Israel in the first phase. There are 600 women and 400 men.

Israel had chosen the names of the laborers going to Israel through shelling last October. At that time, the government suspended the process of sending Israel for the time being after the war between Israel and Hezbollah increased.

After the cease-fire between Israel and Hezbollah, with the consent of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security has advanced the deferred recruitment process.

2 thousand 112 people were selected based on lucky draw from the list of 3 thousand 461 people who qualified for Israel. In the first phase, the process of sending 1,000 people has been advanced. They have been scheduled to undergo a health check-up at four health centers selected by Israel from December 17 to 23. Israel has selected Nepal Medicity Hospital, Star Hospital, Hames Hospital, Manmohan Memorial Medical College and Teaching Hospital and Crystal Diagnostics Pvt Ltd for medical examination.

According to the labor agreement between Nepal and Israel, workers will be sent to long-term care centers through government mechanisms. There is no involvement of the private sector in this . According to Dhananjay Jha, the liaison officer of the department's Israel branch, after 1,000 people were sent in the first lot, the rest will be taken in the second lot. The government has been proposing to take all the workers who are qualified and listed to Israel as needed.

Nepalese Ambassador to Israel Dhan Prasad Pandit said that Nepalis working in long-term care centers will be safe. "There is no point in holding back the workers who have been selected in Israel." Workers are coming here from Sri Lanka and India. Even though there is a war in Israel, the workers are safe," he told Ekantipur.

Long-term care centers have the highest number of 1,345 Nepalis employed. They have been saying they are safe . Recently, Israel's Population Immigration and Border Authority (PIVA), which is responsible for bringing in foreign workers, started to say that if Nepal stops workers for a long time, it will look at alternatives. Piva is bringing in workers from India and Sri Lanka in the agricultural sector . Care givers are giving preference to Nepalis.

Israeli Ambassador to Nepal Samulik Ari Vas said that sending workers to Israel is beneficial for both sides. "There is no difference in the service facilities available to workers and local citizens in Israel," he said in a program, "The recruitment process between the two countries through government mechanisms is beneficial for both countries."

The monthly salary of a Nepalese working in a care giver is set at 5880 Israeli currency (about 200,000 rupees). Its contract period will initially be one year . After that it will be up to a maximum of 5 years .

There are about 14,000 long-term care centers in Israel. Last August, Israel took forward the process of taking 15,000 workers including 5,000 care givers from India.
