Former women parliamentarians of marginalized communities have organized for the rights of marginalized communities, constitutional legal discussions and political initiatives.

During a program in Kathmandu, Constituent Assembly members and former MPs formed the 'Constituent Assembly Members and Former Parliamentarians' Marginalized Women's Parliament Platform'. Constituent Assembly member Kamala Vishwakarma has been selected as the president of

platform. Srimaya Thakali, Durga Periyar and Kaushal Shah have been elected as vice presidents, Tulsa Rana as general secretary and Parvathi Kumari Vishunke as secretary. The panel members include Milan Rajvanshi, Uma Gothe, Asha Vick, Nira Jairu, Rajyalakshmi Shrestha, Babina Moktan, Namita Chaudhary and Mani Khambu Kirati .

Similarly, the gathering has selected Onsari Gharti, Ashtalakshmi Shakya, Jaipuri Gharti, Sita Gurung, Jayanti Rai, Teku Nepali and Meena Pun as the advisers of the platform.  Speaking at the

program, CPN (Unified Socialist) Vice President Jayanthi Rai, who is also a member of the National Assembly, said that the marginalized community should be alert and vigilant on the issue of constitutional amendment as the power coalition is moving forward. She said that although the constitution provides for proportional representation, the practical practice is not satisfactory. Bishwakarma, president of

platform, expressed her concern that despite the increase in the representation of women as a whole during the implementation of the constitution, there was no meaningful representation of marginalized women. For the overall development of Nepali women, social, cultural, political and economic empowerment needs attention from all sides. Even among women, the condition of tribals, Dalits, Tharu, Muslims and others is even weaker. But the government doesn't seem to realize it,' she said. Vishunke, secretary of the

platform, said that Dalit women are the weakest among women. Even though the constitution gives rights, marginalized women are not able to realize it. The situation of Dalit, Muslim and Madhesi women is also critical, the situation of tribal women is also the same,' she said.

According to her, marginalized women parliamentarians have organized themselves in the platform with the aim of gender empowerment, access to justice, ending all forms of discrimination and violence, social justice, education, health, employment, and increasing peace and prosperity.
