Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that all organizations and individuals at the national and international level should unite to face the challenge of climate change.
Addressing the review program of the 29th World Climate Conference held here today by the Ministry of Forests and Environment, Prime Minister Oli stressed that we should work together to keep nature clean and sustainably protect it.
Mentioning that the government will arrange climate finance along with the leadership of the work to face the challenge of climate change, he said that as the land becomes dry, it will adversely affect the agricultural sector, so that the Ministry of Forestry and other agencies should also spread awareness to prevent forest fires. He said that every community should be alert to prevent human-made environmental pollution.
'We have not contributed to global warming, but we have been forced to bear the brunt of it. He had to be punished for his wrongdoings. It is not only Nepal that is affected, it is a global issue," Prime Minister Oli said, "The issue of Himalayan climate is not only about the mountains, the temperature system of the world is connected with the mountains. Mountains have the ability to cool the air. Having this capacity is a climate challenge. That's why we have to go to the concept of defense from the mountains to the sea.'
Reminding that Nepal should be given climate compensation in the 79th General Assembly of the United Nations, Prime Minister Oli mentioned that Nepal has preserved 24 percent of its territory to protect the environment of this earth. He requested to start preparations for COP-30 from now with the review of COP-29.
The 29th Conference of Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change was held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from November 26 to November 7. Nepal's participation in the conference and the steps to be taken by Nepal in the field of climate change in the future have been reviewed. The Nepali delegation led by President Ramchandra Paudel participated in the conference. The
event was attended by Minister of Home Affairs Ramesh Akhtar, Minister of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Devendra Dahal, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Arju Rana Deuba, Minister of Forests and Environment Ain Bahadur Shahi Thakuri, Federal Parliamentarians, United Nations Resident Representative, policy makers, and local people's representatives.
