Minister of Communications and Information Technology Prithvisubba Gurung has said that the government will not release any person mentioned in the report of the parliamentary inquiry committee on cooperative fraud.

Speaking at an event organized by Tamu (Gurung) Media Association Nepal today in Kathmandu, Minister Gurung, who is also the spokesperson of the government, expressed his commitment to take action against anyone mentioned in the report prepared under the leadership of MP Surya Thapa.

Mentioning that no one is above the law, he clarified that Congress, UML, Maoist or other party-affiliated leaders and workers and anyone else will be prosecuted according to the law in cooperative fraud cases.

Stating that all those mentioned in MP Thapa's report cannot be brought to action at once, Minister Gurung said, 'We will not spare anyone one by one.

Minister Gurung said that the protest to release Ravi Lamichhane, the leader of the National Independent Party, who is in police custody during the investigation process on charges of co-operative fraud, is an unconstitutional act. Expressing his objection to the fact that the case pending in the court is being influenced, Minister Gurung drew the attention of the concerned parties to refrain from such activities against democratic rules and procedures.

'As its leader is under investigation, it is the responsibility of the RSVP to assist in the investigation process. It is never good to try to influence the investigation process by protesting until the order and judgment of the respected court comes. I request,' he said.
