People of this community are celebrating Christmas Day today to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ, the founder of Christianity.

Two thousand and twenty-five years ago today, on December 25th, Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, Israel. Sibi Gahatraj, president of the Nepal Christian Federation, said that Jesus Christ, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born to the virgin Mary, gave three main joys.

According to him, the Christian community celebrates today as all three days in the belief that Christ has given salvation, love and peace. He said that today is celebrated as Love Day for those who came to love people, Peace Day for those who came to establish peace and Mukti Day for those who came for liberation.

Many people around the world celebrate Christmas Day in Nepal. On the occasion of the day, a public holiday was given from 2063 to 2074. On this occasion, from 2075 to 2077, only Christians were given leave.

Since 2078, on this occasion, everyone has been given a public holiday again.  The Federation claims that there are currently 3.5 million Christians in Nepal. The Federation has been saying that more than 15,000 churches have been built. It is said that there are churches of all 13 denominations of Christians in Nepal.

Christmas Festival 2081 was organized this afternoon under the organization of Maha Sangh Main Ceremony Committee. President Gahatraj said that representatives of all political parties including government representatives will be present in the program organized at Nepal Pragya-Pratishthan Kamaladi.

Lately, it seems that Christmas trees are being decorated in major places in the main cities. It is specially designed to attract foreign tourists from the Christian community. Tourist areas such as Thamel, Buddh, Pokhara, Sauraha and other places are more crowded during Christmas.
