Eight houses damaged in Saturday's earthquake, more details being gathered

The initial damage caused by the 5.2 magnitude earthquake on Saturday morning with Jagannath Rural Municipality Gotri as its center has been released. According to the data collected by the security personnel deployed at all the nine local levels, details of eight houses were completely damaged and some were partially damaged.

According to the information provided by District Police Office Bajura, the two-storey house of local Kalpana Budha in Budhinanda Municipality-2, Janak Bohra's house in Ward No. 4, and Padam Sarki's house in Ward No. 9 Pandusain have been completely damaged. Similarly, the houses of local rich Bohra, Saimal Rokaya, Ghanshyam Budha, Tene Chadara, Mansingh Thapa Bhote in the same municipality-3 have been partially damaged.

The building of Kailash guest house in the same place has also been damaged.  Janak Bahadur Bohra, Information Officer of the District Police Office, said that the houses of Dasharath Wik, Anand Wik, Champhe Wik and Man Wik of Swamikartik Khapar Rural Municipality-1 were also damaged in the earthquake. 

In Gotri, which is the epicenter of the earthquake, one hundred and 23 families are at risk, according to the ward office. Chief District Officer Rupak Mandal informed that a recommendation has been received from the Ward No. 5 office to the District Disaster Management Committee regarding the same details. He said that the information from the ward office is being verified from other sources as well. It is said that the details of the damage in other municipalities are being collected through the local police station. 

The locals demand that the local government pay attention to immediate relief and rescue operations to protect the affected people from the cold. The leader of the civil society, Gilgraj Padhyay, requested to immediately provide essential support materials to those who are in trouble.
