President Ramchandra Poudel has appointed Shankar Prasad Sharma as Ambassador to India. Similarly, President Paudel has also appointed Netraprasad Timsina as ambassador for Malaysia.
According to Article 282 (1) of the Constitution of President Paudelenepal, on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers, Sharma was appointed as Resident Ambassador to India and Timsina to Malaysia, according to the Office of the President.
Nepal decided to send Sharma as ambassador to India for the second consecutive time. "Agrimo" was received after 78 days of writing to the Government of India.
Sharma was Nepal's ambassador to India from March 2078 to June 2081. When the Pushpa Kamal Dahal-led government decided to recall the ambassadors of 11 countries at the end of last May, Sharma was also included in the four-year tenure.
But soon the power equation changed and the government led by KP Sharma Oli, who became the Prime Minister with the support of the Congress, recommended Sharma again as ambassador to India on July 14. The government recommended ambassadors for 19 countries along with Sharma.
The Parliamentary Hearings Committee approved the ambassador's recommendation on October 3. Then, on October 11, the Ministry of External Affairs asked India to agree on Sharma's name. According to an official of the Ministry of External Affairs, India sent "Agrimo" on November 28.
India sent 'Agrimo' only after three months in Sharma's first tenure. Before that, India took two months to send 'Agrimo' for Nilambar Acharya.
After Sharma's 'Agrimo', the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has written to the President's Office for the process of appointment and oath. After taking the oath of office and secrecy, Sharma will go to New Delhi.
