District Court Kaski has allowed Ravi Lamichhane, chairman of Rashtriya Swatantra Party and former Deputy Prime Minister, to be detained and investigated for 4 more days. On Tuesday, the bench of Judge Himlal Belbase extended the time limit for the detention of Chabilal Joshi, Leela Pachai, Ram Bahadur Khanal and Krishna Bahadur Gurung along with Lamichhane.

They are in the custody of the Kaski police in connection with the investigation of the crime related to organized cooperative fraud and money laundering. Joshi, who was arrested on October 6, was extended for the ninth time and Lamichhane, who was arrested on October 2, was extended for the eighth time. According to the provision that Joshi can be detained for 90 days for the crime of money laundering based on the day he was arrested, the deadline of 4 days has been extended for the last time.

District Police Office Kaski submitted the investigation report of the Suryadarshan Cooperative fraud case to District Public Prosecutor's Office Kaski on Monday. On Tuesday, the government lawyer and Ravi Lamichhane's private legal practitioner debated the pros and cons of extending the deadline. On behalf of

co-operative victims, the government lawyer had argued that after analyzing the report, it would take time to determine whether the case would be prosecuted or not, and if it were to be prosecuted, who would be prosecuted under which charge. A lawyer from Lamichhane argued that since the police investigation report has already been prepared, he cannot be detained.
