The emergency meeting of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee held today has passed a condolence resolution expressing deep sorrow over the death of former central member, former minister and head of Kathmandu Municipality, Premlal (PL) Singh.
The meeting expressed grief over the death of Neta Singh and paid tribute. Besides, Chief Secretary of the Party Office Krishna Prasad Paudel informed that he expressed his condolences to the bereaved family, wishing for eternal peace of the departed soul.
Showing respect to Singh, the meeting has decided to fly the flag at half-mast at the party's central office, state office and all district offices for three days on January 1, 2 and 3. Similarly, Paudel said that it has been decided to close central, provincial and district offices on Tuesday, January 2nd, to keep condolence books in central, provincial and district offices until the 13th day of Ascension, and to organize a condolence meeting in Kathmandu on the 13th day.
88-year-old Singh, former central member of Congress, former minister of population and environment and former mayor of Kathmandu municipality, passed away at 1 o'clock last night in Chaksibari, Kathmandu. Swa Singh had been working close to the supreme leader and iron man Ganeshman Singh for a long time. While he was involved in the democratic movement of Nepal, he had to spend his life in prison several times and also had to be exiled to India. After the restoration of democracy, he was elected the first mayor of Kathmandu municipality on behalf of the Congress in the local elections of 2049. On the initiative of Swa Singh himself, Kathmandu Municipality was declared a Metropolitan Municipality in 2052.
Similarly, in 2056, he became a member of the Nepali Congress Central Working Committee. Swa Singh He played a leading role in building the organization of the Congress and in the democratic movements of Nepal. The Congress said that his active contribution will always be remembered in the history of the party.
