Narayan Prasad Dahal, Speaker of the National Assembly, has said that in order to make the functioning of the Federal Parliament effective, the Parliament Service should be revised in time. Speaking at a function organized on the occasion of the 18th Federal Parliament Service Day on Friday, Speaker Dahal said that the public should be ensured access to every activity of the Parliament.

Speaker Dahal said that the role of the Parliament service staff is important to make the cooperation between the people, the government and the parliament effective and to unite the parliament on issues of national interest and to maintain the trust of the people towards the parliament. Stating that many challenges and difficulties were encountered when the parliament service was established under the unitary system of government and operated according to the federal government system, he mentioned that it is necessary to restructure the parliament service in time.

'For this, the existing legal system, examination system, service facilities and structure provided to the employees should also be modified,' President Dahal said, 'There should be no delay in amending the Parliament service in a timely manner to make the Parliament more capable, effective and strong.'

Emphasizing that special attention should be paid to how to increase easy access and participation of the people in every activity of the Parliament, Speaker Dahal said that it would be appropriate to implement a system of collecting people's opinions online and answering questions to ensure direct access of the people to the activities of the Parliament.
