Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that Buddhism is a shining thread in the relationship between Nepal and China.

Addressing the Kathmandu Forum of the Ninth Nanhai Buddhist Conference on Friday, he said that this thread will weave together the spiritual and cultural fabric of our two nations and promote lasting bonds of harmony and understanding.

'Nepal, China exchange many issues beyond the border. We are bound by the bonds of the unforgettable period of our history, the grand embrace of our mountains, the life-giving flow of our rivers and the depth and richness of our cultures," said Prime Minister Oli. "There has been good friendship between Nepal and China since history. I am confident that this conference will deepen the bonds of friendship, disseminate mutual learning and advocate the eternal values of peace, compassion and cooperation among Buddhist communities in Nepal, China and beyond.'

Prime Minister Oli said that the holy birthplace of Gautama Buddha, who is considered the light of Asia, is in Nepal and this land blessed by his footsteps has served as a symbol of the bridge between the Buddhist heritage of Nepal and China. Prime Minister Oli mentioned that from the journey of Chinese monks Fa Jian and Xuan Zhang to Nepal to the visit of Nepali scholar Buddhabhadra to China, our common history is full of exchange of knowledge and learning.

He also said that the architectural wonders of the Nepali style Buddhist temples in China and the grandeur of the Zhong Hua Chinese Buddhist Monastery in Lumbini stand as eternal monuments for this lasting relationship. Prime Minister Oli said that the collaborative engagement between Lumbini Buddhist University and China's Nanhai Buddhist Academy, a beacon of knowledge dedicated to Buddhist studies in Nepal, exemplifies the spirit of partnership and shared aspirations.
