The UML, which is leading the government, has concluded that it is a serious situation that the local by-elections held on November 16 did not yield the expected results. UML also concluded that Prime Minister Oli's visit to China was successfully completed.

Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali said that the secretariat meeting held at UML Central Office Chasal on Tuesday reviewed the by-elections. He said that it was concluded that urban public opinion could not be associated with the party.

'We have reviewed the local level by-elections held on November 16. Overall, UML has achieved more. There were vacancies in the seven wards we won, altogether 42 posts were vacant . We have won 8 seats including one president and two vice presidents. But despite this, we have taken this result seriously,' said Gyawali, 'especially in urban areas like Kirtipur Municipality, Ward No. 16, we have been serious about the fact that what we expected did not come in the way we expected.'

Gyawali also informed that the party's conclusion is to connect the urban voters with the party. "We have come to the conclusion that the party should be connected with more urban public opinion," he said. We have taken the change of vote seriously.'

Gyawali said that it is seen that the leaders of some political parties are promoting such things for their momentary interests by using 'misinformation' and 'disinformation' to spread frustration and confusion among the people. "That trend is not reasonable, such chaotic propaganda does not benefit anyone," he said.

The UML secretariat meeting also concluded that Prime Minister Oli's agreement on the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project during his visit to China was a success.

'We have reviewed the Prime Minister's recent visit to China, the agreement reached there, and the impact it will have on Nepal-China relations . We have concluded that the visit was very successful. In addition to other agreements, the meeting concluded that the agreement reached on BRI is a very important achievement for the long-term development of Nepal. During the conduct of foreign policy and external relations during the day, a sustainability has become the basis for building a national consensus.'

Gyawali informed that the party thanked Oli saying that his visit to China was very successful. The conclusion of UML is that both countries should be active in the implementation of the agreement.
