Congress General Minister Gagan Thapa has said that the foreign investment did not come due to the obstruction of the government in taking the profits out of the companies investing in Nepal. Thapa said that because of the government's policy, foreign companies are afraid to invest in Nepal.

In the civil dialogue program organized by the Human Rights and Peace Society in Kathmandu on Tuesday, General Minister Thapa said that an investment-friendly environment has not been created in Nepal.

'When the government is creating obstacles for the three companies that are trying to invest in Nepal and make profits, they and other companies are also afraid to invest in Nepal . I am also afraid to take the names of those companies,' Thapa said, 'We want benefits but we are not able to create an environment.'

Thapa said that they would not come to invest only because Nepal wants foreign investors to invest in Nepal. He argued that the government has not yet created an environment for foreign investors to invest in Nepal.

Mentioning that the job of providing employment is the private sector and not the government, he opined that the government should create a comfortable environment for that. We all want our children to live in this Nepal. But what have we done for that? What to do for this now ?  We should employ five lakh people in a financial year . Must be created . We don't measure employment in years,' said Thapa, 'We link revenue and development to creation, it doesn't happen like this . The government cannot create jobs. Job creation is for the private sector, but the government should create an environment for it. Investment in the private sector is needed to create jobs.  Investments don't come from someone's kindness. As long as the society does not accept that the private sector is making a profit, employment cannot be created.'

Thapa said that the UML and Congress government should make the issue of employment a matter of competition. He said that all political parties only talk about 2084, who will take charge now? He questioned saying .

Thapa's suggestion was that the Nepali companies working in the field of information technology should be allowed to invest outside Nepal by exchanging foreign currency. He said that the National Bank should open the way for companies working in the field of information technology to invest outside.
