Ravi Lamichhane, Chairman of Rashtriya Swatantra Party (RASWPA), who is in police custody for crimes related to cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering, has been brought to Birgunj for investigation. Lamichhane was taken from Pokhara to Simra by ship on Monday and from there was brought to Birgunj by car.

The RSVP activists also raised slogans at Simra Airport for a while. Along with Lamichhane, former DIG Chabilal Joshi, another operator of Gorkha Media Network, was taken to Birganj from Pokhara by road, police said.

They are accused of misappropriating the money of the savers of Sanopyla Savings and Loan Cooperative of Birganj. Earlier, the Kaski District Court extended the deadline for 4 days on Sunday to investigate Lamichhane and Joshi.

Lamichhane was arrested on November 2 from the central office of RASWP in Kathmandu and brought to Kaski. The deadline for the investigation on Lamichhane was initially extended for 6 days, then 7 days, 10 days, 13 days, 15 days and 4 days on Sunday.
