A corruption case has been filed against Nepal Insurance Authority Chairman Surya Prasad Silwal. The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority has filed a charge sheet against President Silwal on Monday regarding corruption by giving false information and receiving a position he did not get.
According to Narahari Ghimire, spokesperson of the Authority, President Silwal has been found to have changed the date of birth in the citizenship several times and falsified the citizenship and passport. As the Chairman of the Authority, Silwal is supposed to retire on 16th July 2080, even though he has reached the age of 66, the Authority has informed that he has been abusing the position of national servant for the last 9 months and using benefits, facilities and rights.
When receiving the Nepali citizenship certificate dated 2032.11.24 issued from the district administration office of Silwal, Parsa, the age is mentioned as 16 years, when receiving the copy of the Nepali citizenship from the district administration office, Kathmandu, the date of birth is 2016. .07.22 mentioned, diploma level transcript issued by Tribhuvan University, date of birth mentioned on 04.15.2015, self-filled employment and personal details (citroll) also birth of the transcript itself Date 2015.04.15 mentioned in civil service with full details dated 2043.04.01. According to the Authority, it appears that he was appointed to a third-class position, obtained a pension certificate from the civil library based on the same date of birth, and took mandatory retirement on 2073.04.15. Spokesman Ghimire has also stated that Silwal himself has fixed/accepted/had his date of birth on 04.15.2015.
It has also been revealed that Silwal gave false details of age in the passport application form while getting a diplomatic passport, a special passport. According to spokesperson Ghimire, while taking the passport, it is seen that he fixed the date of birth 2018.07.24 . He had reduced his age by almost 3 years from his actual date of birth and submitted false information to obtain a diplomatic passport and a special passport as a national servant. According to the authority, action will be taken against Silwal in accordance with section 15 and subsection (1) of section 16 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059, according to section 15 and section 16 of the same act.
