Prithvi Subba Gurung, spokesperson of Nepal government and minister of communication and information technology, said that if the government can implement e-governance, corruption will be under control.
Addressing the 'IT Meet 2024' organized by the computer club of Kathmandu University in Kavre on Friday, he said that corruption can be controlled in Nepal if e-governance can be implemented through Digital Nepal Framework, a program launched by the government. Addressing the
program, he said, 'Digital Nepal framework has been thought of starting from the governance label. If the e-governance program can be implemented in all 7 provinces, 753 municipalities, 42 ministries of the government of Nepal, and 761 government offices across the country, it will be possible to control corruption . There is no policy for that either. "It is necessary to make a law based on policy and strategy," he said, "only after that, how to implement the Digital Nepal Framework will move forward, it says work in the eighth sector, various categories are specified in it, one of which is the government sector. He said that the government has not yet made a policy for artificial intelligence (AI). Stating that the government will bring AI policy within a month, he said, 'Once the policy is made, AI-related programs will be launched there.' He said that even though Nepal has entered the decade of IT, there are not many achievements. According to him, there should be plans, programs, budget management according to that, policies should be made for this, it seems that there is a lot to be done in this area, but nothing has been done.
Stating that the government has failed to give importance to the technology sector, he said, 'The government has to change its policy as a major issue. Although there are many talks about how to develop the information and technology sector, to connect it with the industrial sector, to make Nepal a hub of IT, the policy for this has not yet been made Manish Pokhrel, Dean of School of Engineering, Kathmandu University, said that it was organized to provide opportunities and inspiration.
