Ishwar Pokharel, the senior vice-president of the ruling party CPN (UML), has said that he will review the results of the local by-elections.

Pokharel says that after the overall report of the by-election comes, he will review the deficiencies and weaknesses on the part of the party. Talking to News Agency Nepal on Wednesday, he said that UML has won in some places where it was defeated in the 2079 election.

Pokharel claimed that there is no reason for UMA to be disappointed about the local elections. He said that he will review the decrease in votes even in his control areas.

Although the result of Kirtipur municipality in Kathmandu was not in his favor, Pokharal claims that there has been progress compared to the last election. Krishnaman Dangol of Congress won the mayorship of Kirtipur by securing 5,334 votes, while Shivsharan Maharjan of Maoist came second with 4,555 votes. UML's candidate Surendra Manandhar was third by securing 4,337 votes.

Pokharel's claim was that although the old political parties are now 'outdated', it has not been confirmed by public opinion. Now a comment is being made, the old parties are outdated. It was not confirmed by the people's vote, he said that it is still there.

Pokharel said that he will review the weaknesses in the election of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 16. President of Kathmandu 16, Rozina Shrestha of Raspka won with 2 thousand 902 votes. In this ward, UML candidate Lakshmiratna Tuladhar came second by getting 2,220 votes.

'The same is the situation of number 16 of Kathmandu metropolis . It is an important ward but we could not win there. We look at the deficiencies and weaknesses in it and move forward in the same way as it should be handled,' he said, 'from the by-elections, we have learned the lesson that UML should manage things related to the elections in a more systematic manner and we will move forward on that basis.'
