Chairman of CPN-Maoist Center and former Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said that the result of the by-election has given him the mandate to contest the election alone. Issuing a press statement on Tuesday, President Dahal said that the people have given a mandate to compete with their agenda and their own unique identity through by-elections.

"The opinion expressed by the people through this by-election will be taken as a mandate by our party to compete with its agenda and its own unique identity," President Dahal said. President Dahal says that the people rejected the 'unwanted alliance' formed in various places and defeated the Maoists.

'The party has achieved encouraging success in terms of both the number of elected representatives and public opinion. Our party highly respects the enthusiastic support shown by the people, tearing apart the unwanted alliances formed in various places. This has confirmed that the people have approved the agenda put forward by our party and the campaign we are trying to carry out,' said Dahal.

Similarly, Chairman Dahal also said that the people supported the agenda of good governance, social justice and economic prosperity put forward by the Maoists. He has expressed the commitment that the Maoists will now resolutely advance the campaign to change the living standards of the people.

In this by-election, two district coordination committee chiefs and one ward chairman post were already uncontested, while 41 posts were voted on Sunday. Out of total 44 posts, Congress won 19, Maoist 11, UML 8, Jaspa 2 and S, Raswapa, Nemkipa and Independent 1/1 posts.

In the 2079 election, Congress won 6 and Maoist won 2 positions out of 8 positions of municipal chief and deputy chief. According to the final results, Maoists have added 2 officials and UML has added 3 officials. Out of the 6 that the Congress had previously won, only the post of Kirtipur municipality chief of Kathmandu has been preserved.
