Ravi Lamichhane, Chairman of the National Independent Party, who is in the custody of the Kaski Police, has been brought to Kathmandu on Thursday evening for investigation on the charges of cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering.
Lamichhane has been brought from Pokhara to Kathmandu for further statements related to Swarnalakshmi cooperative fraud in Kathmandu. Lamichhane's statement related to Suryadarshan Sahakari of Pokhara has been completed, according to police sources. The Kathmandu District Court had issued an arrest warrant against Lamichhane on November 2 for an investigation into the alleged misappropriation of savings of Swarnalaxmi Sahakari .
An arrest warrant was also issued by the Kathmandu District Court against the former director of Gorkha Media and former DIG Chabilal Joshi on the charge of misappropriation of Swarnalakshmi Cooperative savings. Joshi's statement has been taken at the district attorney's office in Kathmandu.
Kaski District Court on Sunday allowed Lamichhane to be detained for another 15 days for investigation. Kaski Lamichhane is being investigated for cooperative fraud, organized crime and money laundering.
After the statement in Kathmandu, Lamichhane will be taken to Kaski again. Lamichhane, who was also involved in the embezzlement of the savings of Supreme Cooperative of Butwal, was earlier taken to Rupandehi District Public Prosecutor's Office for a statement. An arrest warrant has also been issued against Lamichhane and others in Chitwan.
