150 Nepali youths who came to Russia as students in search of work are stranded in Moscow. They have no university to study, no employer to work and no visa to stay in Russia. Those who went to university to study and earn money from employment could not take classes when they were working, so their visas were not renewed and now they are neither studying nor working.
Those students who reached Russia by investing up to 10 lakh rupees are even more cheated when they resort to brokers to extend their visas. The broker is absconding after collecting around 35 million rupees from the student to renew his visa.
According to the victim, up to 160,000 rubles (about 235,000 rupees) have been collected per student. According to the victim students, Rajkumar Shrestha of Sindhuli, Arjun Kumar Chaudhary and Rohan Upreti were involved in collecting the money.
Jeevas Yadav of Saptari in Moscow said that they came to the street at once when they were cheated. We were one and a half hundred people from Ghar or Ghat. We do not have a visa to stay in Russia," he said on the phone. "We are neither in a position to return home, nor are we in a position to stay in Russia.
Last November, Yadav reached Moscow after paying 10 lakh rupees to Dream Consultancy to study Russian language. The consultancy said that you can work while studying, you can earn 70,000 rubles (about one lakh rupees) a month. In the beginning, it was said that it would cost 6 lakhs, but by the time of the flight, it reached 10 lakhs,' he said, 'No NOC was not even received from the Ministry of Education, they kept it in India for 7 days and brought it to Russia.' 'We have to study 6 hours a day 5 days a week,' he said Said it was like coming to work for free. We could not afford to live in Russia and study expenses. The tuition fee is only 176 thousand 400 rubles (two lakh 58 thousand rupees). The room rent is 12 thousand rubles. "I used to get 60,000 rubles by working 12 hours a day," he said. His visa expires in August. "After paying one million to Dream Consultancy, 9 of us came to Moscow to study in November, but it didn't happen as the consultancy said, we had to work for 13 hours without sleep, sometimes in a restaurant and sometimes in packing," he said, "The course at the first university was over, we asked the broker to apply for a visa to study at another university. We gave 25,000 rupees, but the broker ran away.'' The company is saying that if they work, they will get a visa. A visa is also required to stay in a hostel. We were kicked out from the hostel because we did not have a visa," he said. "There is a situation where some people are sitting in the park. Some of our friends have been wearing the same clothes for 10-12 days since we could not stay in the hostel. The visa of Rina Shah (name changed) from Nepalgunj expired in July. Shahi, who came to Moscow by paying 8 lakh rupees to Nepalgunj-based Landmark Consultancy, said that study and work are not possible at the same time.
As the educational consultant said, work and study cannot be done together. I came to the Russian Social University, got a visa in Information Technology. Work cannot be done for less than 12 hours. We were not even taken to college," she said. "There were 7 people in my group. When things don't go as planned, three friends join the Russian army. Among them, Dinesh Nayak has been missing for 8 months. Two people left the army and reached Nepal. One person was injured. I and another one are stranded together.'
She said that she gave money to a broker to apply for a visa to another university, but the broker who took 160,000 rubles fled after the visa was not granted. "I have been in the room for a month, I have not even been able to come out. She has not worked since July. You have to register to stay in the hostel, you need a visa for that," she said. We request the Nepali Embassy to take action against those who cheated us and to facilitate the renewal of visas.
40 students have requested action against the brokers and to facilitate their visas. The embassy said that the student has no choice but to return home. "Many students' visas are expiring, we have received a request to facilitate visa extension," said Embassy spokesperson Sushil Ghimire, "There is no other option than to return home after the visa period expires." He said he was cheated. Nothing can be done in Russia without brokers. From looking for a job, finding a camp to renewing a visa, a student who came to Russia said, 'Last year, we were unable to do more.' They say that the university will expel those who cannot. Agents (educational advisors) of Nepal send students to Russia so that they can enter Europe and find work in Russia as well. Few of those who come are government university students. You have to take regular classes in a private university like language teaching, you have to pay money to study,'' he said, 'Here it is not possible, it is not possible to study and work at the same time. As a result, students go to work, they have to leave the university while working. Students who cannot pay the amount are also expelled from the university. "The brokers are active who take money from the students who leave like that to get visas from other universities," he said, "This is the situation of students who are in trouble now." Those who came with the dream of studying and earning by spending millions were recruited into the Russian army because they could not save money despite working. After the increase in the number of students being recruited into the Russian army, the Nepali embassy issued a notice and warned them not to come to study to work.
The number of Nepali students coming to various universities in the Russian Federation for higher education has been increasing significantly recently. It has been found that most of the Nepali students who come in this way fall under the temptation that they have the opportunity to earn enough money and can easily enter Europe,'' the notice issued by the embassy on January 1, 2079 said, 'Nepalese who come to Russia are coming here because of the false and unreasonable assurances of the educational counseling center of Nepal. After coming, there is an increasing trend of people coming in contact saying that they did not get the opportunity as they had admitted and that even their daily life is difficult. When the Russian Federation comes, it is requested not to enter into any kind of assurance other than absolute study.'
