Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has said that 'break through' is an important work in the construction of long tunnels in the country with new technology. Addressing the 'break through' program of the Ghattepankha-Dhedre tunnel located on the national pride Kathmandu-Tarai/Madhes highway (fast track), he expressed his determination that the pace of this development will not stop now that Nepal has entered a new era with the tunnel era.
Prime Minister Oli said, 'The speed at which development should have happened in the past did not happen, now this expressway will be the model of development.' Stating that the government is ready to resolve the obstacles in the construction of the expressway, he clarified that the disruption in the construction of the expressway is not only political but also related to the economy.
Mentioning that there was an attempt to create a commentary that nothing happened in Nepal, Prime Minister Oli said that the construction of the long-distance tunnel refuted it. Stating that it is a fast track for cultural integration, strengthening of the national economy and promotion of the tourism industry, Prime Minister Oli expressed the opinion that he is committed to creating a complete peace and fear-free environment in the country.
He mentioned that the government is working with the vision of developing the country, raising the standard of living of the citizens, fulfilling the national aspirations of a happy Nepali and a prosperous Nepal. Stating that the work of bringing optical fiber, 4G internet and other services to all districts is progressing, Prime Minister Oli said that infrastructure such as expressways will support such programs.
He directed the officials of the ministry connected with infrastructure development to finish the work started on time. Prime Minister Oli broke through a 1.728 km long tunnel towards Kathmandu-Nijgarh today during a ceremony in Bakaiya Rural Municipality-12 Dhedre of Makwanpur.
The project, which aims to be completed by the end of March 2083, is being divided into 13 projects. Out of 89 bridges to be built at various locations under the project, 85 bridges have been managed and are in the stage of implementation. The distance is 70.977 kilometers with the departure point being Khokna in Lalitpur and the end point being Nijgarh in Bara. The expressway will be 25 meters wide in hilly terrain and 27 meters wide in Terai terrain.
Six tunnels with a length of 10.39 km will be built on the expressway. 89 bridges with a length of 12.885 km will be constructed at different places on that road. It is said that two rest stops in Budune and one interchange and toll plaza will be constructed in Khokna, Budune and Nijgarh.
