Foreign Minister Arju Rana Deuba has said that all Nepali students in Bangladesh are safe. Minister Rana said this on Monday morning through social media about the Nepali students and other Nepalis who are there.
"The Nepali Embassy in Dhaka is in regular contact with the local authorities, college administration and Nepali students regarding their safe accommodation, security and other necessary assistance," she said. "All Nepali students and other Nepalis in Bangladesh are safe."
He said that the Nepalese students there have been affected by the situation caused by the latest developments in Bangladesh and that the students and their relatives here have expressed their concern.
Minister Rana said that an official has been appointed for the necessary coordination by establishing a 'help desk' in the ministry and the Nepali embassy in Dhaka is also doing the necessary coordination for the safety of the students there and facilitating their journey for those who want to return to Nepal.
Only on Sunday, 115 Nepali students returned to their country by air and 315 through Kakadvitta border crossing. 56 Nepali students who returned on Sunday morning were welcomed by foreign officials at Tribhuvan International Airport. After the news that Nepali students are facing problems due to the latest developments in Bangladesh, a help desk has been set up in the Ministry for their assistance and the Nepali Embassy in Dhaka has been kept in proper contact.
Foreign Minister Rana has also been contacting the Nepali Embassy in Dhaka to get information about the Nepali people there. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has informed that 1,200 students have returned home from Bangladesh till Sunday. In Bangladesh, students are protesting against the employment quota system set by the government.
