Education Minister Sumana Shrestha has said that a high-level investigation committee will be formed to study the land encroachment of educational institutions including Tribhuvan University.
Minister Shrestha, who visited the university on Tuesday, said that she will form a high-level team to study and take action on land encroachment.
'Work is being done to form a team, there is a plan to put experts who have studied land in the team, for that, the mandate is being prepared,' she said, 'There will be an investigation on land encroachment from Tribhuvan University.' The land has been occupied and used by various individuals and organizations in an unauthorized manner. Minister Shrestha, who is also the vice-chancellor of the university, has made a commitment to try to bring it back from the government level.
Before him, Rajukumar Shrestha, head of General Administration Division of Tertiary University, said that support from the government level is necessary to get the land back. He said that the government should take the initiative as the matter of land and land is also related to land registry, land surveyors and other government agencies.
Minister Shrestha, speaking at a press conference organized by University Vice-Chancellor Kesharjung Baral and other officials, urged the university to create an environment for publishing the results on time.
She had also instructed the officials to make arrangements to obtain educational certificates in a simple and easy manner from the Examination Control Office. Registrar Kedar Rizal promised to publish all the stalled results within June. He said that the examination control office will be made technology-friendly and the results will be published on time.
Vice-Chancellor Baral said that dean, department, campus head will be appointed by issuing a procedure with criteria. He reiterated his commitment not to be involved in the appointment. Rector Khadag KC said that studies are being done by forming a working group to make the cooperation provided by the University quick and easy. Based on the report of the working group, he said that equivalence will be provided without any problems.
