The National Human Rights Commission has requested the government to bring the bodies of those who died abroad in the war to the country and cremate them according to their religion, culture and tradition.

Tikaram Pokharel, the spokesperson of the Commission, issued a press release on Sunday and asked those who want to return to their country to take diplomatic initiative to arrange the treatment of the injured.

Commission has also requested the government to protect the lives of Kritu Bhandari and others who are on hunger strike. The Commission has reminded that it is the duty of the government to protect and rescue the human rights of Nepalese wherever and whatever their situation.

It has been confirmed that 39 Nepalis serving in the Russian army have died in the ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine. Some are injured and receiving treatment. Relatives of the war victims have been on hunger strike in Kathmandu for the past 17 days, demanding an initiative to rescue some of those who are at risk as soon as possible.  After receiving a complaint to the Commission on this matter, the Commission has monitored the ongoing hunger strike in Ratna Park.

The Commission has informed that the health condition of the pensioners is deteriorating. The commission drew the attention of the Nepalese government on January 1 to rescue the people at risk and end the situation of going to foreign employment through illegal means.
