The government has formed a recommendation committee for the appointment of officials of two commissions related to transitional justice. The Cabinet meeting held at Singh Darbar on Friday formed a committee under the chairmanship of former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court Omprakash Mishra to investigate the missing persons and recommend the appointment of the members of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission along with the chairman.
Former Supreme Court judge Jagdish Sharma Paudel, Dr. Arjun Kumar Karki and Stella Tamang are members of the committee informed by Minister of Communication and Information Technology Rekha Sharma.
According to section 3 of the Investigation, Truth and Reconciliation Commission Act, 2071, a recommendation committee has been formed to recommend the appointment of the chairman and members of both commissions, she said. The
recommendation committee is composed of the chairman of the National Human Rights Commission or a member of the commission appointed by him, human rights workers, psychologists, legal scholars, jurisprudence experts, women's rights workers, sociologists, conflict experts, and people involved in the peace process.
