Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Narayankaji Shrestha has said that the government should not think of running the country's economy on the basis of remittances, revenue and foreign aid.

Addressing the 73rd Annual General Meeting of Nepal Chamber of Commerce in Kathmandu on Tuesday, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Shrestha said that if the government runs on the basis of remittances, customs revenue and foreign aid, the country will not be able to achieve economic prosperity.

Shrestha claimed that there is a current need to reduce trade deficit with capital increase, increase in capital expenditure implementation capacity and export promotion.

There is a need to focus on the issue of capital growth, the problem of developing the ability to implement capital expenditure and the issue of reducing trade deficit. For that, there is a need to intensify economic activities, increase production and employment, replace imports and promote exports,' Shrestha said. There is a situation where the government cannot speed up the economy in the traditional way. For that, we have to end the issue of running the state with three things . The idea of running the economy on the basis of remittances, the idea of considering customs revenue as the basis and the idea of running the country with foreign aid at the center is wrong.' He said that it is necessary to speed up economic activities. He said that there can never be development without doing so.
