Malaysia is going to take workers from Nepal only as security guards. Malaysia has said that it will not take workers in the production, agriculture and service sectors until the next decision, but it has opened Nepali workers in the security guard.
Malaysia has stopped issuing calling visas since Chait 18 (March 31) saying that there are more foreign workers than quota in its labor market. In the case of workers who have been issued visas, Malaysia has decided that they must enter Malaysia by May 18 (May 31). The Nepali Embassy in Malaysia has said that it has stopped verifying demand letters in areas other than security guards since March 9. After stopping the verification of demand letter, the recruitment process of workers will not proceed.
The Federation of Nepal Health Professionals has also stopped the health examination of workers going to areas other than security guards. "We are instructed by Malaysia only to check the health of the workers who go to the security guard. We have stopped the health examination for workers going to areas other than that since last Thursday,' said Federation President Kailash Khadka, 'calling visas will be issued only after passing the health examination.'' 36 health institutions have been granted permission.
Malaysia has been taking security guards only from Nepal among the 16 labor source countries. The Nepali Embassy allows security guards only on the condition that they pay 2,650 ringgit (about 79,000 rupees) per month. The embassy has set a lump sum of 2,650 ringgit with the minimum salary at 1,500 and overtime at 1,150. However, it is difficult to find an employer company that brings security guards as per the requirements of the embassy. Malaysia has banned the supply of security guards from countries other than Nepal, but Nepal has not been able to benefit accordingly. A license (permit) to supply and supply security guards is only granted to companies with a 70% shareholding by the former High Security Officer of Malaysia. There are about 800 such companies. Half of these companies only supply Nepali security guards.
Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia Dilliraj Paudel said that Malaysia has always respected the role played by Nepali security personnel to protect Malaysia's sovereignty and independence. If the Nepali could be identified correctly, the security guard would have/have a better chance. There is a good diplomatic relationship between Malaysia and Nepali, and more than that, there is also a close relationship," he said. "This matter should be exposed at the top level of the state."
Malaysia has adopted a policy of retaining only 15 percent of its total labor force as foreign workers. Malaysia has a labor force of 17 million. According to which the maximum number of foreign labor force is 25 lakh 50 thousand. There are about 500,000 Nepali workers in Malaysia including security guards, tourism sector, furniture, cleaning and small industrial production.
