Stakeholders have emphasized that the mass media should prioritize inclusive issues as a social responsibility.

Rights activists and media persons participating in the interaction on 'Inclusive Journalism: Skills, Capacity and Collaboration' organized by the Ekta Foundation in Kathmandu on Thursday pointed out the need for inclusive journalism.

At the program, Vice President of the Federation of Nepali Journalists Neetu Pandit said that inclusive journalism requires not only physical presence but also an editorial vision that prioritizes equality. She said that the social responsibility of journalism has been weakening in recent times and believed that the mass media should be the voice of marginalized communities including Dalits, women, indigenous peoples, and gender minorities. 'Media is the basis of social transformation,' Vice President Pandit said, 'It is the duty of the media to become the voice of the voiceless.'

Similarly, writer and rights activist JB Bishwakarma presented a working paper on the need and importance of inclusive journalism. He said that the mass media should now adopt an effective and creative style instead of the traditional style when raising the voices of marginalized communities in society.

Ekta Foundation Chairman Ramhari Shahi said that the issue of inclusion is not only of a specific community but is the basis for building an entire civilized nation. For this, he mentioned that the media should emphasize on reporting news on inclusive issues as a mission of social transformation journalism.
