The Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation has nominated poet and litterateur Tirtha Prasad Shrestha, a resident of Pokhara Metropolitan City-1, as the member secretary of the Pashupati Area Development Fund.
Tourism Minister Khadkar Raj Poudel handed over the nomination letter to Shrestha at a program organized at the ministry on Thursday. The ministry had called for open applications for the positions of member secretary, office bearers and members of the fund on Baisakh 13. 476 people had applied for the position of member secretary of the fund. The ministry has stated that seven people, including member secretary, treasurer and member, have been nominated from among the applications.
Congratulating Shrestha, who has gained experience in the management of the Bindhyavasini Temple in Pokhara, Minister Poudel expressed his best wishes for effective leadership in the conservation, management and development of the Pashupati area. The ministry has nominated Shrestha as the member secretary in accordance with the Pashupati Area Development Fund Act, 2044. According to the act, the member secretary is the administrative head of the fund. However, Shrestha's tenure is not mentioned in the nomination letter.
The Act provides that the Minister of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation shall be the Chairperson of the Fund, while the Chairperson may appoint a nominated person as the Member Secretary. The Prime Minister of Nepal shall be the Patron of the Fund.
Similarly, the Ministry has nominated Mina Kumari Shrestha as the Treasurer. Shrestha, a resident of Gaurighat, Kathmandu, was previously working in the administration branch of Lalitpur Engineering College. Similarly, Gangasagar Baniya, Roop Shahi Bastola, Sangita Kumari Ram, Kedarman Bhandari and Ram Sobit Nayak have been nominated as members of the Fund, according to the Secretariat of the Minister of Tourism. There is a provision that the Member Secretary and Treasurer will receive a monthly tabal allowance like the secretaries of the government, while other members will only receive a meeting allowance.
