Police have arrested five foreign women on charges of indecent behavior targeting domestic and foreign tourists walking on the road in the Thamel area of Kathmandu.
According to the District Police Range, Kathmandu, they were arrested after they were found unnecessarily harassing foreign and domestic tourists and ordinary men walking on the road section in Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 by unnecessarily barging in and engaging in obscene activities.
According to SP Pawan Kumar Bhattarai of the Kathmandu Police, four of those arrested are Ugandans and one is an Indonesian citizen. They were taken into custody by a team deployed from the Lainchaur Police Circle.
The police claim that while the police were trying to explain to them, they abused, punched and assaulted the police on duty. SP Bhattarai said that further investigation is underway.
Necessary investigation is underway against all five arrested, informed the spokesperson of the District Police Range, Kathmandu, Superintendent of Police Pawan Kumar Bhattarai.
