Suryabinayak Municipality has made public a budget of Rs 2.26 billion for the upcoming fiscal year 2083/084. 

Deputy Mayor Sarita Timsina Bhattarai presented the budget at the 20th Municipal Assembly session on Wednesday. Of the presented budget, 57.14 percent, or Rs 1.29 billion, 14 million, 18 thousand, has been allocated for capital expenditure, while 42.85 percent, or Rs 960 million, 85 million, 82 thousand, has been allocated for current expenditure.

For the upcoming fiscal year, it is estimated that Rs 690 million, 316 thousand, will be received from the federal government through equalization, revenue sharing, complementary and conditional grants, and Rs 590 million, 67 million, 708 thousand, from the provincial government through equalization, revenue sharing, complementary, conditional and special grants. In addition, it is projected that Rs 973 million, 870 thousand, 975 thousand will be received from internal sources.

The municipality has stated that the budget is expected to accelerate overall city development by prioritizing areas such as economic development, social development, infrastructure development, forest, environment and disaster management.

The municipality has prioritized the development of skill-based and technical education, production and productivity growth, employment creation and the development, expansion and use of reliable, secure and effective information systems as the main objectives of the upcoming budget.

The municipality has determined five major priorities for the upcoming fiscal year. These include urban infrastructure expansion, quality improvement and urban beautification, strengthening and expansion of basic health services, community education infrastructure development and quality enhancement, entrepreneurship promotion and employment creation, and institutional good governance through extensive expansion of information technology.

Similarly, the municipality has prioritized strengthening social sectors including health, education and drinking water, increasing entrepreneurship and self-employment, promoting tourism and utilizing local economic potential, sustainable and systematic urban infrastructure development and development of modern information systems as transformative areas.
