Kathmandu Metropolitan City has presented an estimated budget of Rs 25.883 billion 55 thousand rupees, including Rs 25.133 billion 55 thousand rupees in the consolidated fund and Rs 75 million in other external expenses, to implement its policies and programs. The metropolitan city has made public the budget for the fiscal year 2083/084, said Acting Mayor Sunita Dangol.
‘It is estimated that Rs 25.133 billion 55 thousand rupees will be collected in the consolidated fund for the upcoming fiscal year,’ Acting Mayor Dangol said while presenting the budget on Thursday, ‘out of which, it is estimated that a total of Rs 20.186 billion 29 thousand rupees will be managed from the Kathmandu Metropolitan City’s internal income and bank balance. The grants received from the Government of Nepal and the provincial governments through conditionalities, equalization, and revenue sharing are estimated to be Rs 4.936 billion 67 million 26 thousand rupees. Similarly, it is estimated that a resource of Rs 10 million will be received for public participation.’
He said that under the budget and programs presented in terms of sectors, 2.1 percent of the total budget, or 541.82 million rupees, has been proposed for the economic development sector. 9.6 percent, or 2.42 billion rupees, has been proposed for the social development sector. 61 percent, or 15 billion rupees, has been proposed for the infrastructure development sector.
8.5 percent, or 2.13 billion rupees, has been proposed for the good governance and interrelated sectors. 18.8 percent, or 4.71 billion rupees, has been proposed for the office operation and administrative sector.
